KSC Systems stands for openness, stability, and user focus. Head of Development Konstantin Schinas discusses goals, trends, and collaboration within the KSC team.

Portrait of Konstantin Schinas, Head of Development and Product Management KSC Systems

Konstantin Schinas has headed development and product management at KSC Systems since October 1, 2025. He succeeds Jens Schoof, who shaped KSC's development for many years and initiated the transition at his own request. Schoof will remain with the team and will continue to actively contribute his experience to the further development of the KSC product family.

Together with the existing team, Schinas will continue the work consistently – with a focus on open standards, IP-based workflows, and user-centered product development.

In this interview, he talks about his goals, current technology trends, and how broadcast control will become even more flexible and intuitive in the future.

Mr. Schinas, you recently became Head of Development and Product Management at KSC Systems. What strategic goals are you pursuing with the further development of KSC Core and the product line as a whole?

"With the further development of KSC Core and the entire KSC system family, my goal is to offer our customers real added value in a changing broadcast world. We don't just want to keep pace, but to set standards – with solutions that reduce complexity and open up new degrees of freedom. Our focus is on designing our systems to be powerful, reliable, and intuitive – thus putting the user at the center."

Where do you currently see the greatest technological need for action in broadcast control – and how do you intend to address this?

"In my view, the greatest need for action lies in the consistent implementation of open standards and the intelligent integration of IP-based workflows, especially in the SMPTE 2110 environment. In my role, I'm committed to actively shaping this transformation – with an architecture that is modular, scalable, and elastic – that is, one that can adapt to the customer's current needs. The close integration of development and product management allows us to identify trends early, respond quickly, and reliably translate innovations into market-ready solutions."

What is your vision for the interaction between technology, product management and market feedback?

"I see great potential in collaboration based on transparency, trust, and speed. When technology, product management, and market feedback act as equal partners, a dynamic emerges that enables true innovation. My goal is for us to learn from every customer project, feed market input directly back into development, and thus create a system that is constantly evolving—together with our users."

What particularly appeals to you about the KSC product family – and where do you see its greatest potential?

"What fascinates me most about the KSC product family is that it's not just a control system, but a platform for creativity and efficiency. We create tools that enable our customers to flexibly manage complex production environments – whether traditional, hybrid, or fully virtualized. The potential lies in rethinking broadcast control: away from rigid structures and toward software-defined workflows that grow with our customers' needs."

Which developments in the field of IP-based broadcast infrastructures do you consider particularly groundbreaking – and how do you take them into account in product design?

"The future clearly lies in further virtualization and open, interoperable systems. IP-based infrastructures create enormous opportunities to make production processes more flexible and resource-efficient – whether on-premises or in the cloud. For us, this means developing products that enable this freedom without compromising on stability, ease of use, or security. This is precisely where I see our responsibility as a technological partner to our customers."

With the change in development management, KSC Systems continues the successful work of recent years. Open architectures, intuitive operating concepts, and close team collaboration – from long-standing experience to new perspectives – remain the brand's central guiding principles.
