How continuous development turned an idea into an industry standard
KSC Core was first launched ten years ago with the aim of making complex control processes in broadcast and control center environments simpler, more flexible, and more reliable. Today, KSC is used in more than 300 installations worldwide and has long been an integral part of critical operating environments.
From debut to established platform
In 2015, KSC Core was presented at an international trade fair – at the time, it offered features that redefined the state of the art: intuitive interfaces, fast configuration, and a modular architecture. Practical enhancements followed within the first year, such as the GFXUnit for touch operation, the integration of Dante and Sony IP Live, and the first IP support according to SMPTE 2022.
This early decision was crucial for the development towards SMPTE 2110 and the transition to IP-based infrastructure in the industry, in which BFE was involved from the very beginning in one of the first major projects worldwide.
Technology that grows with practice
KSC's particular strength lies in its close relationship with users—from planning and support specialists at broadcasting stations to emergency personnel in control centers. New features often arise from specific projects:
- Bouquet function with automatic stream mapping – a container for dynamic bundling of streams
- Event and Circuit Manager – for structured planning and fast signal switching
- GFXUnit – visual touch control with freely configurable panels, from broadcast studios to command vehicles
The result: a system that not only keeps pace with new technologies but also actively responds to operational requirements.
Reliability as a fundamental principle
A sentence from a customer project sums it up:
“KSC CORE is Solid Rock State.”
This stability is no coincidence, but the result of a consistent focus on availability, redundancy and clear usability – characteristics that are crucial in production and broadcast environments, in control centers, master control rooms or OB vans and other application environments.
Looking ahead
A decade of experience is no end in itself. The need for manufacturer-independent, flexible control is growing – especially with regard to networked production and deployment environments. KSC will continue down this path: with new modules, optimized IP integration, and even closer collaboration with partners and users.
